Gailardia and Pere left with Van for Daath when he "kidnapped" the original Luke, Jewel of Gardios in tow. There, Gailardia continued his swordsmanship training and excelled at it. Eventually, Van offered him a position under him as a God General, and Gailardia took it. However, Gailardia's real loyalty, much like in canon, is to one of the Lukes-- in this case, it just happens to be the original.

PERSONALITY: Gailardia is still a fairly easy-going young man. He's down to earth and intelligent, unless you're a girl, in which case he'll just be over here, thanks. However, spending less time as a servant has left him a little more assertive and a bit less of a doormat than his canon counterpart-- if told to "explain, Guy," he's more likely to actually challenge that order than just sigh and take it.

Being a God General has also left him a little more vicious than the Guy we see in canon. Though he would prefer to talk things out rather than fight, if he has orders to kill, he'll do it without a second thought (though he might apologize to you beforehand). Especially if the person in question is threatening Asch. Whether or not he'll carry out his revenge is still something he remains undecided on, but he's leaning a little more towards "yes" in regards to killing Duke Fabre than his canon counterpart.

RELATIONSHIPS:
•Asch: Gailardia is probably the only person who still calls Asch "Luke." Though he didn't always get along as well as he could have with him when the two were both at the Fabre manor, things changed after they came to Daath. Seeing Asch vulnerable after having lost his family reminded Gailardia a bit of his own past, and was enough to push him past looking at Asch as nothing more than "Duke Fabre's son." The result was that he ended up becoming a little protective of the boy, something that only increased as time went on. Asch's firmly-held beliefs about the future of Kimlasca and the rest of the world are something that Gailardia found that he could get behind, and in truth, he has more loyalty to him than the Order. Since left to his own devices Asch tends to be depressed, standoffish, and reckless, Gailardia tries to be a mediating influence on his life and push him towards a more optimistic outlook. Whether or not this works is a different story, but Gailardia's content to keep trying.

•Van: More than anything, Van is a constant in Gailardia's life-- he's been with him since Hod, and therefore the two are extremely close. Gailardia's perfectly aware of the irony inherent in Van being his superior instead of the other way around, but he doesn't really mind. He respects Van deeply and has always looked up to him as a sort of older brother figure. When they do have free time, it's not uncommon to find them together. This isn't to say that Gailardia's completely blind to the fact that Van is... a little unhinged, recently. But for the moment, he's willing to ignore it (and hopes the problem will just go away), unless Asch decides it's something to worry about.

•Dist: Oddly, despite Gailardia being fairly convinced that Dist is a delusional nutjob, the two get along fairly well, due to one important factor: Fontech. Their obsession with fontech runs strong enough that they actually work together well-- Gailardia tunes out Dist's rantings on Jade, makes suggestions about replacement parts, and does a bunch of the dirty work. Because Gailardia's even temper tends to balance out Dist's emotional outbursts, it's not uncommon for them to be paired up if there's a mission that requires Dists's expertise as a sort of safety measure. In return, Dist tolerates him, and Gailardia actually feels a little sorry for the way everyone else treats Dist... but only a little.

THIRD PERSON WRITING SAMPLE:

Gailardia's sword sliced cleanly through the last of the bandits, leaving the man to collapse dead onto the ground with a meaty thud.

"You know, that's why I said you really should have just surrendered," he told the corpse with a wince. Shaking a bit of blood from his sword, he turned and scanned the uniformed grunts already moving in to secure the stolen carriage for Luke's familiar shock of red hair. When he spotted him scowling down at the mess of corpses, Gailardia grinned and trotted over.

"Hey, Luke!" he called, raising a gloved hand in greeting. "Not bad. Looks like you were even faster in taking them out than me this time."

Asch fixed him with the glare he'd been expecting. "How many times do I have to tell you not to call me that?"

"Good question. Keep trying and maybe you'll find out one day." Gailardia's cheery smile faded into a slightly more serious expression as he got a better look at the other general. "You're hurt."

"What?" For a moment, Asch looked honestly confused. Then he glanced down at the shallow gash marking his left bicep and shrugged. "Oh. That. It's no big deal."

Gailardia sighed and sheathed his sword. "Idiot. Hold on, I'll go get the bandages."

The look Asch shot him was somewhere between sulky and venomous, but Gailardia just shook his head with a sort of despairing affection.
